First book in the Lion of War Series signed by author Cliff Graham
In ancient Israel, at the crossroads of the great trading routes, a man named Benaiah is searching for a fresh start in life. He has joined a band of soldiers led by a warlord named David, seeking to bury the past that refuses to leave him. Their ragged army is disgruntled and full of reckless men. Some are loyal to David, but others are only with him for the promise of captured wealth. While the ruthless and increasingly mad King Saul marches hopelessly against the powerful Philistines, loyal son Jonathan in tow, the land of the Hebrew tribes has never been more despondent---and more in need of rescue. Over the course of ten days, from snowy mountain passes to sword-wracked battlefields, Benaiah and his fellow mercenaries must call upon every skill they have to survive and establish the throne for David---if they don't kill each other first.
Day of War, author Cliff Graham's first novel, has earned him a film option for the entire book series---Lion of War---from director David L. Cunningham (Path to 9/11) and producer Grant Curtis (Spider-Man films).

Great story and perspective of the gritty life in the time of King David and his Mighty Men. Fresh painting of what men, warrior men as well as women were like and they too are just like us today, Human. Graham does a great job in the story to remind us that these Mighty Men, these Hero's we read about in the Old Testament are just ordinary men with extraordinary courage, strength, discipline, and love.

I am certain that the headline of this review seems overstated. However, when you have looked for materials that depict the God created Man in a balanced real way for many years, it impacts you in a dramatic way when you find it. There is little material that can be used to inspire boys and males to be men outside of a very narrow group of authors. Thank you, thank you.

I had a hard time putting the book down. Very gripping and action packed along with amazing descriptions of clothing, weapons, etc. Currently waiting on book 2. My only negative is the time it takes to receive, It took nearly two weeks to get the first book and I'm on day 8 waiting for the second. But, worth the wait.

I bought this book for my husband and he couldn't put it down.He said that he really liked how the author weaved his story around the Bible Characters and made them come to life in a believable portrayal of how life is. Looking forward to getting more in the series.

Without hyperbole Graham was able to add flesh to the bones of some scriptures that most people read rite over, giving more depth and inspiration, proving the point that you can never exhaust the rewards of studying God's word.

With movies like Gladiator, Braveheart, 300 and the likes, people are more enthralled and interested in the ancient periods of human history and these movies and stories captivate our minds and bring belief and truth to the events, that is why I think this is an incredibly important book series and soon to be motion pictures; events of the Bible brought to life so that it is no longer a task for some to read and try to understand the stories of the Old Testament. Graham does a wonderful job of imagining (through much credible research) the settings, characters, events and how they unfolded while staying as true to the Bible as possible. Bravo. The books are entertaining and thought provoking for persons of any faith. Bravo again.

I love to read. This was a very exciting story about the Mighty Men of DVid. I have never heard of anyone brining the bible to life like this. I ordered the next 2 books and can't wait to read them.
